Vikki Haines

Group Fitness Manager

Vikki has been working in the Health and Fitness Industry for over 10 years. She gained her Personal Training/Gym Floor Instructor Qualifications in 2007 and went on to open her own Personal Training Studio in Kerikeri. She started off in Community Fitness teaching BODYPUMP and we’ve never let her leave! Group Fitness has become her passion and she is now our Group Fitness Manager, responsible for managing our fantastic (and often raucous) Group Fitness team. Vikki has recently completed her Les Mills AIM2 qualification which places her in the top 2% of Group Fitness Instructors worldwide. On top of all that, you’ll also find her training clients out on the floor and she’s the person to see for all things Rehab.

Cathy Orevich

Group Fitness Instructor
Les Mills International Qualified Instructor

Cathy cannot remember a time where she hasn’t been involved in sports of some description. She has played many individual & team sports and took this love for a team environment into Group Fitness instructing. Cathy was initially enticed to Community Fitness as cover for our GF team due to the wide range of classes she teaches but we loved her so much that we convinced her to take up a full-time spot in the schedule! Along with Group Fitness, Cathy’s interests include Bodybuilding, powerlifting and obstacle courses in the great outdoors.
“Be kind, firstly to yourself and that will then project to others.”

Karon Stewart

Group Fitness Instructor
Les Mills International Qualified Instructor

Karon has been a BODYPUMP instructor with Community Fitness since 2004, an experience which she says has been fascinating and exciting! Being able to watch the progress that her class-participants make, and to see the enormous benefits that they gain by taking part in regular classes is all the motivation that Karon needs to keep teaching. Having turned 70 in 2018, Karon herself is an inspiration, especially to women who are joining the gym later in life, that age is never a barrier...she’s still keeping those much younger than her on their toes! 😉 Karon is an avid golfer and loves to travel (she sailed to NZ on a yacht from Seattle!!)
“ I absolutely love the buzz of our enthusiastic classes and seeing the results makes me eager to teach every single day!”

Nicky Jolly

Group Fitness Instructor
Les Mills International Qualified Instructor

Nicky enjoys a more holistic form of exercise. Having previously done Tai Chi before coming to Community Fitness, it was these elements that led her into BODYBALANCE. Teaching BODYBALANCE nicely complements her interests in kinesiology and Ancient Chinese techniques, which are used to test and balance the body. Nicky has been a potter for 38 years and finds that Group Fitness is the perfect antidote to the solitude of pottery.
“ Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create.”

Rachael Elliot-Jones

Group Fitness Instructor
Les Mills International Instructor

Rachael is one of the latest additions to our group fitness team and started teaching because she loved helping and motivating people. It also helps that her class gives her an hour away from the kids to free her mind, haha! She has always been a gym enthusiast, and loved being part of group fitness, so it wasn’t too hard to convince her to join the team as a SPRINT instructor. You’ll find her on stage at 6am sharp, full of enviable amounts of enthusiasm!
“ Nothing compares to the energy in a room that is full of driven, motivated people, I LOVE it!”

Rachel McLellan

Group Fitness Instructor
Les Mills International Qualified Instructor

Rachel joined our Community Fitness team in 2015 and quickly became a Les Mills certified BODYSTEP, BODYPUMP and CXWORX Instructor. She wasn’t always an avid gym-goer but discovered the motivation, support and fun of Group Fitness and hasn’t looked back! She is now on her way to adding a BODYPUMP certificate to her resumé and can be found training on the gym floor most mornings. She finds seeing people set personal goals and watching their drive and dedication to achieve results the most satisfying part of working with the Community Fitness team.
“ I enjoy watching people enjoying group fitness and encourage everyone to come and give it a try! I truly believe you’ll love it too!”

Carolyn Godsell

Administration & Reception

Carolyn (or Caro) joined the gym for herself in 2004 to get fit and healthy, but we loved her so much that we offered her a job as receptionist. Caro enjoys the fact that her job gives her the opportunity to be around friendly and positive people and says that helping people start off on their own fitness journey is extremely satisfying.
“Dream it, believe it and then achieve it.”

Sam Knight

Reception & Marketing
Group Fitness Instructor

Sam first joined Community Fitness as a teenager looking to get stronger and faster for sports. She then left Kerikeri to go travelling overseas with international sailing events, where she worked in logistics and admin for major regattas. She would spend the next 6 years travelling the world whilst also studying for a Bachelor of Business in Marketing & Sport Business. It’s no surprise then, that upon returning to Kerikeri, she would wind up working for us, taking care of the front desk, admin and our marketing. She is the latest addition to our Group Fitness team & really embracing the love of group exercise!
“I love being part of the team at Community Fitness, seeing everyone here achieve results is all the motivation you need!”

Any Barati & Zoey Anton ( Childminding)
Deb McKechnie & Ngawai Owen (Gym Maintenance)

No gym would be the same without the dedicated behind-the-scenes staff. Our cleaning team & maintenance team of Ngawai, Deb & Any is invaluable in ensuring that our gym is always clean and up to spec so you can get the most out of your training. Any and Zoey also have the mostly unenviable job of looking after your youngsters so that you can find that moment of peace to grab some time for yourself! You’ll often see them around the gym, feel free to say hi!
“No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it.”

Debbie Klinac

Centre Manager

Debbie has been involved with Community Fitness since the humble beginnings all the way back in 1995. She has now been managing our not-for-profit facility for more than 20 years!! Deb trained at Otago University & did her Group Fitness training with Les Mills back in the early 80’s (think aerobics lycra!), and she is still known to jump up on that stage to teach! Deb has a desire to make a difference in everyday lives, to help people overcome obstacles and to contribute in a real way to people’s success. She says it has been incredibly rewarding to get our Community gym to where it is today, and it has been filled with learning, fun & friendship.
“I love my job and the people I work with… and I love our members, the positive, happy people who make us try harder to get it right.”
